You don’t need super fitness. You don’t have to be fit to start. If you train, you become fit. Our training improves flexibility, increases strength and perfects fine motor control.
Stick fighting is practical, simple and direct. You learn how to disarm and despatch one or more attackers with minimum effort in the shortest possible time.
You learn to integrate body, breath-energy and mind. Integration enables rapid progress when learning any new skill. The principle is an inner teaching of Esoteric Buddhism (Mi-tsung 密宗). It underpins all Shaolin (少林) training. Taught by a competent teacher, it’s easy to understand and easy to apply.
The stick is an ancestral weapon. Wild chimps use sharpened sticks to spear bush babies in tree hollows. They attack enemies of all species with broken branches. Where sticks are available, all known human cultures have stick fighting traditions.
This course is comprehensive. It covers the basics of Shaolin short-stick training; exercises, stance and stepping, forms and techniques.
Anyone can learn to fight with a stick. Male or female, young or old; the skills are within your reach.
Previous experience is not necessary. You don’t have to be an expert to start. If you practice, you become one.
An ordinary broom-handle will do. You don’t need a special stick to defend yourself. Any broom-handle will do.
With a stick you can deflect knives and bottles safely. Bare-handed, you’ll get cut and bleed. With a stick, you can safely deflect a sharp weapon.
With a stick it’s easier to resist multiple attackers. A stick is the ultimate equalizer. Although it’s light enough to wield, it’s heavy enough to split skulls and break arms and legs. Every hit counts.
